The Spring 2022 Anime Season

I watched only a few shows this season and they were all continuations of shows, two that were still ongoing from previous seasons.

Komi Can't Communicate

My first thoughts were “the opening theme for the first season was better”, but as the episodes went on it grew on me. I’m not sure what to say about this besides it was Komi-san, so it was good. I thoroughly enjoyed the first season, more than I thought I would, so this second season was no different. Komi-san can’t communicate is a story about highschool student Tadano excited to live his life as a normal highschool student, a dream that is soon crushed by him befriending the most beautiful girl in school, who can’t communicate. Her goal is to make 100 friends. This season focuses more on the budding romance between the two, as we have already seen Komi successfully make new friends. Something I enjoy about this series is that all the characters’ names have very literal meaning for their character role/personality. Tadano Hitohito roughly means “Just some person”, and all the characters have names similar to this, which is always a delight to me when a new character is introduced. Please tell me galko-chan was a series that also did this with the names. Anyways, nice season, wish she would make friends faster, or this will go on forever.

Dragon Quest Dai No Daibouken

Another season. Certainly we are approaching the finale now? I enjoyed the ending theme, although it wasn’t introduced this time around, it has finally grown on me. I also like that Gome-chan now has a “2” marking on him, in the show and in the ending theme. Very funny. This might’ve been something that happened before, but I just noticed recently.

FINAL RATING: 6/10
Baraou no Souretsu

This show, incredible story. While less clearly-rushed than the last season, it does still feel like some key things were skipped over in this adaptation. Despite this, I enjoyed the story. Fans of the manga are begging people to read the manga, not sure I will though, but still, interesting story. Thanks, Baraou no souretsu.
