Welcome! On this page I’ll be detailing my first impressions of the shows I’m watching this fall 2022 anime season. Do not expect this to be a regular thing, I am just overly impressed by the shows this season, so far, in comparison to last season, see my scathing reviews, here!
What’s not to love about more Pop team epic? The ***SPOILER*** final fantasy cameo was a delightful treat. Excited to have more pop team epic.
Hasn’t aired yet
Chill.
Dragging on into this season
The sole reason I’m writing this article, what a phenomenal first episode. The description of this show made it seem like your average 2000s harem, but it’s airing in this year of 2022, so, being the enjoyer of 2000s harem anime I am, I was already excited. It’s so much more than that. The show makes a point in making itself the epitome of 2000s harem anime tropes, to the point of parody and overall comedy. ALL of the romance options are, comedically so, transfer students, even the teacher.
The show starts out with a fortune teller listing the lucky words for someone who’s birthday is on October 8th, “Hey that’s my birthday!” exclaims the protagonist. The lucky words are, comedic in amount, corner, train station, love letter, etc etc. Things like that, stereotypical harem anime hijinks terms. Hijinks ensue, and we are shown that the world is futuristic, the girl he bumps into has smart glasses, the train station ticket station is managed by an anime girl AI, robot trash pickers, electronic vending machines. Overall, the setting, reminded me of the futuristic world featured in Pokemon Destiny Deoxys.
Whilst hijinks ensue, we get to see some stunning animation (the scene where he tries to escape the train) (maybe make a gif of this). The art style is also nice. “Modern” anime art style, but not in the offputting, generic looking way that many shows tend to look these days. I could keep going on about this show, just the first episode, but I don’t wanna spoil the humour, for those interested in watching. I feel like this show was made for me.
Thought this was just going to be a show following the lives of maid cafe workers and their drama, but I got so much more. Akihabara maid cafes meet mafia turf wars.
Digi charat is back, woohoo! Not much more to say about it.
Uzaki chan returns, we get to see cosplay and a budding romance in the first few episodes. It’s an easy-to-watch show.
I have yet to figure out where to watch this, please contact me if you know where.
